Highlights of group visiting the centre and impression of shack visits

Monday 10 March om 09:46 The children loved the Dutch and English Group, they gave their full attention to the children and had fun with them. as you can see from the photo’s. The children are asking and the volunteers as well when are they coming back again?

The group brought lots of new ideas to the child care workers. There were some teachers in the group so we went to see some of the local schools

This is Rebecca’s school she is in grade 5

In the kitchen we are trying new recipes the children love to eat pumpkin Sessie preparing the pumpkin

At least once a week I do shack visits for the day, this mother lost her baby a week ago and she is sorting out the baby clothes to give to someone else

This family had very little money but they had planted a bit of a garden to encourage them I gave them several packets of seeds to grow more of their food.

This old man had nothing in the house and not eaten for 2 days we gave him a food parcel and will try to get him a ID number so he can claim some pension, he had tears in his eyes when we helped him.

The man in the wheel chair lost his leg in a train accident as a railway worker his other leg has no feeling and the rats had eaten all his toes, they had very little, after delivering a food parcel we arranged for him to be taken to the clinic for dressings

We frequently visit Masmeranie to bring her some food to build her up, she has TB which is also in her bones she can hardly walk, she has 2 little girls who are so underweight, she loves praying with us.

I realise more and more how important the day care is for it keeps the children of the street and gives them 2 meals a day a relatively good start.

One of the volunteers in the centre had a baby girl

Rebecca will return to the UK this month

Nel,

liefs Ria

Ah Nel – the photo’s bring it all back to me! You are doing such a good job and we are so proud of you! We are hoping to have a reunion with the crazy Dutch in May, all going well! God is still blessing this group! I have a Wider Mission meeting tonight, so pray that I say the right things about our trip and keep the enthusiasm for this work going :0)
I feel strongly that this is unfinished business for a lot of us.
In the meantime, I am applying to do volunteer work for a local charity called Open House, who support the homeless around the Crawley area. Anyway, it’ll keep me out of trouble for a while! ;0) x Take care – we all love you xxx

I don’t know if you will get this – I have a very surreal sense of humour, so I thought it was hilarious – oops!

How many surrealists does it take to change a light bulb?

Two. One to hold the giraffe, and the other to fill the bathtub with brightly coloured machine tools.

Nel

You might find this funnier – a little light relief from the stress of computers that don’t do what they should! :0)

Etch-A-Sketch

Dear user,

There are a lot of changes that are going to be taking place across the board as far as the servers & personal computers go. The goal is to remove all laptop computers by March 2003 and all desktops computers by June 2003 as a part of the ongoing cost-cutting around the company.
Instead, everyone will be provided with an Etch-A-Sketch.
There are many sound reasons for doing this:
1. No boot-up problems
2. No technical glitches keeping work from being done.
3. No more wasted time reading and writing emails.
4. No more worries about power cuts.
5. Budget savings on Upgrades unparalleled

Frequently Asked Questions from the Etch-A-Sketch Help Desk:
Q: My Etch-A-Sketch has all of these funny little lines all over the screen.
A: Pick it up and shake it.

Q: How do I turn my Etch-A-Sketch off?
A: Pick it up and shake it.

Q: What’s the shortcut for Undo?
A: Pick it up and shake it.

Q: How do I create a New Document window?
A: Pick it up and shake it.

Q: How do I set the background and foreground to the same colour?
A: Pick it up and shake it.

Q: What is the proper procedure for rebooting my Etch-A-Sketch?
A: Pick it up and shake it.

Q: How do I delete a document on my Etch-A-Sketch?
A: Pick it up and shake it.

Q: How do I save my Etch-A-Sketch document?
A: Don’t shake it.

I’ll leave you in peace now

Hi Nel
Have been thinking a lot about you this week and praying. Christine introduced me to a lady who was in your housegroup by the name of Vicky she was at Jan’s baptism at the weekend. She was asking how things were going for you and I told her what great work God has you doing out there and how happy and fulfilled you are. She sends her love as I do. Speak soon. God bless

Hi Nel,
We are both OK. Catherine had an operation on two of her toes, she had the pins removed last Friday and can drive again now.
Catherine and I are in the same housegroup as Moira and Stewart.
There is going to be a full presentation of the group’s trip on Sunday evening.
Most, if not all of the group would like to go back to work with the children

Lieve Nel,
wat leuk om kort te lezen hoe het met je gaat. Ook ik bewonder je werk! Op school hebben de leerlingen zich ook weer flink ingezet voor Zuid-Afrika. Ze hebben veel zin in het project van oktober.
Keep up the good work!!
